Fe isotope composition of laterites from Surigao, South Philippines was studied. The laterite profile depicts limited Fe isotope fractionation, reflecting a complete and in situ oxidation before Fe migration. Significant loss of Fe in laterites suggests that Fe was likely lost via ferric Fe colloids. Fe isotope variations in soils help identify soil evolution processes under different climates.
