Four episodes of palaeoflood events were identified in the upper Hanjiang River.
Flood peak discharges were estimated to 42,200–63,400 m3/s using hydraulic model.
These events occurred at 12,600–12,400, 4200–4000, 3200–2800 and 1900–1700 a BP.
These events represent a response of river system to monsoonal climatic variation.
