A kind of molybdenum oxide nanostructures can be synthesized via facile synthetic approaches.; The prepared rod-like MoOx displays well crystalline nature and take place phase conversion from MoO3 to MoO2.; The obtained MoO2 as catalyst exhibits high catalytic activity and cycling durability in HER.
