Phosphate-pretreated pyrolysis can stabilize Pb(II) accumulated in biomass. More than 95% of Pb(II) in celery and wood biomass was stabilized. Pb from biomass was almost totally retained in char. Most Pb was transformed into phosphates according to XRD and SEM/EDX analyses.
