Influence of conductor eccentricity on Faraday phase shift errors of portable fiber-optic current transformer

A portable fiber-optic current transformer (P-FOCT) with flexible sensing coil was proposed in this paper. The model has been established to describe the Faraday phase shift errors, which are influenced by the non-closed error of flexible sensing coil and eccentric position of current conductor. It has been obtained that the Faraday phase shift relative error is mainly influenced by the non-closed angle of sensing coil and can be decreased by increasing number of turns, the matching installation region of current conductor was found, the theoretical model was verified by the finite element method (FEM). It provides an important reference for the installation of P-FOCT to satisfy the accuracy requirement.
