We found increasing grassland, decreasing bare land and sandy area within 1990–2006.
The catchment has 502 check dams with total volume of 571 Mm3 built by 2009.
Land use changes and check dams in 2006 reduced the sediment yield nearly by 80%.
Check dams are efficient but not sustainable measures for sediment control.
