[EMIm]HSO4 was employed to prepare (BiO)2CO3 photocatalyst. [EMIm]HSO4 decreases the specific surface area and increases the particle size. The photo-induced charge separation rate has been greatly boosted. The solar light-driven photocatalytic activity has been remarkably promoted.
