Dried duckweed biomasses were used as adsorbents for lead removal for the first time. Both adsorption processes followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Both adsorption isotherms followed the Langmuir model. Various functional groups were identified as being involved in Pb2+ adsorption. The maximum Pb2+ adsorption capacity of the two adsorbents were quite promising.
