Improvement of interfacial bonding and mechanical properties of Cu-Al2O3 composite by Cr-nanoparticle-induced interfacial modification

Cr nanoparticles were introduced to precipitate at the interface of Cu-Al2O3. The hardness and compressibility increased for Cu-Al2O3 composites by adding Cr. The simulated interfacial residual stress decreased for Cu-Al2O3 composite with Cr. The improved mechanical properties are due to the improved interfacial bonding.
