Effects of Zn concentration and heat treatment on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of as-extruded Mg-Zn alloys produced by powder metallurgy
The Mg-Zn alloys are prepared by powder metallurgy and then hot extruded. The effects of Zn concentration and heat treatment on properties are investigated. The Mg-Zn intermetallic phases are characterized and studied in detail. The mechanical properties of the Mg-Zn alloys are suitable for bone implants. The Mg-6%Zn alloy imparted by aging treatment shows the best corrosion resistance.
