A 2-year record of the vertical fair-weather electric field (Ez) is presented for a desert location in Israel.

Results replicate the Carnegie Curve but show deviations from the simple model of global thunderstorm activity.

Clear diurnal and seasonal patterns are observed and compared to data from other locations in the world.

Increased aerosol concentrations produce a local morning peak in Ez that is not related to global lightning activity.
