A novel tubular porous electrode electrocatalytic reactor for treatment of actual anticancer drugs wastewater containing 5FMP was described.

The effect of key operating parameters on the performance of reactor was studied.

Degradation pathway of 5FMP was proposed by quantum chemical calculation.

Energy consumption and operating cost of the electrocatalytic reactor were much lower than other electrochemical reactors.
