Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) could promote osteogenic differentiation of human periodontal ligament cells.

P38-MAPK signaling were activated in different ways upon induction by H2S.

Expression of the osteogenic regulators was reversed by p38-MAPK and ERK signaling inhibitors SB203580 and U0126.
