Damage identification with a total variation regularization is proposed.

(Pseudo) Huber total variation and Tikhonov type regularizations are considered.

These methods are tested on a reinforced concrete plate with and without damage.

(Pseudo) Huber regularization is free from over-smoothing inherent in interpolation method.

More precise damage identification with (pseudo) Huber than with interpolating functions is found.
