The conditions of formation for Gd-Cd association have been defined from the study of an enclave containing the gedrite holotype. In a Bi-St enclave included within an anatectic Cd granite, the large crystallization of Gd and Cd would result from metamorphism with introduction of SiO2 and K2O depletion during the anatexis of the metasediments.
