High strength lightweight mullite whiseker network reinforced ceramic materials was successfully prepared from coal fly ash. The shape and size of mullite crystals was controllable by adjusting the firing temperature and additive. High strength lightweight mullite-based ceramic were sintered at1390 °C. This mullite ceramic has great potential for wide use in proppant production.
