A TPSR method was designed to study the effect of H2 on CO oxidation over Au/TiO2.

H2 promoted CO oxidation over Au/TiO2 by forming the Ti-bonded hydroxyl species.

H adatoms spillover from Au to TiO2 formed the new Ti-bonded hydroxyl species.

H2 directly adsorbed at TiO2 consumed the Ti-bonded hydroxyl species.

H2 played a role on CO oxidation similar to H2O over Au/TiO2 but different over TiO2.
