Highly aligned array of W18O49/CuO core-shell nanorods and its promising NO2 sensing properties

Vertically aligned, uniform core–shell W18O49/CuO nanorod arrays is reported.

The alignement of heteroarrays can be tuned easily by shell layer deposition.

Possible mechanism of shell-induced alignment is suggested.

W18O49/CuO sensor response NO2 as low as 100 ppb at near room temperature.

Mechanism of improved NO2 sensing characteristics is discussed.
