The acid-base and calcium complex solution chemistry of a sulfonated polyacrylate copolymer (VS-Co) have been characterized. The microconstants of the acid dissociation and Ca2+ dissociation reactions are fitted with a linear electrostatic model. Results from this study can be used to predict the equilibria of VS-Co in a solution at various conditions.
