Ti/ZnO–Fe2O3 composite was used as thin film electrode in CO2 photoelectroreduction.

Composite with flower–like crystal showed narrow band gap and excellent textural properties.

The methanol field was 0.773 mmol/cm2 after 3 h by composite with Ti/Fe = 1 and 800 °C.

Spinel is benefit for the improvement of composites photoelectrocatalytic activity.

The product of CO2 reduction was methanol, intermediates were formic acid and formaldehyde.
