A comparison between the mechanical and thermal properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes and boron nitride nanotubes

The mechanical and thermal properties of carbon and boron nitride nanotubes are studied. Carbon nanotubes are proved to be axially stiffer than boron nitride nanotubes. The thermal conductivity of boron nitride nanotubes is comparable to that of carbon nanotubes. Low-frequency phonons make dominant contribution to the thermal conductivity.
