An optimization method for improving ICE transient performance was proposed. The deviations of ICE transient performance from their steady-state behaviors were revealed. The impacts for the difference of ICE transient and steady-state behaviors were discovered. Ignition timing fluctuates largely at low load of vehicle driving conditions.
