A theoretical model of nested compression spring gas foil bearing (NSFB) is proposed. The static results and dynamic coefficients of NSFB are predicted. Experiments were conducted to investigate the start-stop characteristic of NSFB and the stiffness and damping performance. The stiffness and damping coefficients of NSFB with larger spring number are improved.
