A series of CeO2–ZrO2–CrOx mixed oxides are prepared by co-precipitation method.

Solid solution and more Ce3+ and Cr6+ species are formed by ZrO2 doping.

Proper ZrO2 doping promotes 1,2-dichloroethane elimination on CeO2–ZrO2–CrOx.

ZrO2 doping significantly improves the thermal stability of CeO2–ZrO2–CrOx.

CeO2–ZrO2–CrOx exhibits good durability for 1,2-dichloroethane oxidation.
