Neuroprotective effects of miR-27a against traumatic brain injury via suppressing FoxO3a-mediated neuronal autophagy

Enhanced FoxO3a expression is associated with decreased miR-29b level after TBI. Overexpression of miR-27 attenuates neurological deficits and brain injury post-TBI. Overexpression miR-27a suppresses TBI-induced neuronal autophagy. The suppression of FoxO3a by miR-27a is mediated by putative sites at their 3′-UTRs. Knockdown of FoxO3a blocks neuronal autophagy after TBI.
