In this paper, we investigate the initial value problem for the generalized double dispersion equation in RnRn. Under suitable conditions, global classical solutions are proved for n≥3n≥3 and n≥1n≥1, respectively. Moreover, pointwise estimates of global classical solutions are established when n≥3n≥3 and n is an odd integer by Fourier splitting frequency technique.
