Maternal exposure to fine particulate air pollution induces epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition resulting in postnatal pulmonary dysfunction mediated by transforming growth factor-β/Smad3 signaling
Maternal exposure to PM2.5 induces fetal pulmonary dysfunction. EMT may plays a role in maternally PM2.5-exposed fetal pulmonary pathology. EMT, ROS and the TGF-β/Smad3 pathway are interrelated and interact on each other. EMT might also participate in the healing process following lung injury.
