Measurement of time resolution of the Mu2e LYSO calorimeter prototype

In this paper we present the time resolution measurements of the Lutetium–Yttrium Oxyorthosilicate (LYSO) calorimeter prototype for the Mu2e experiment. The measurements have been performed using the 6356&_mathId=si0001.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=bd65a1e8df6b5d1bc730e3fe7791be7e" title="Click to view the MathML source">e beam of the Beam Test Facility (BTF) in Frascati, Italy in the energy range from 100 to 400 MeV. The calorimeter prototype consisted of twenty five 6356&_mathId=si0006.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=b0a0a8f64fc625714c7a419f2e2d3445">View the MathML source6356-si0006.gif">, LYSO crystals read out by 6356&_mathId=si0007.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=8108000346d2ef481bcaaff22cb5b96e">View the MathML source6356-si0007.gif"> Hamamatsu Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs). The energy dependence of the measured time resolution can be parametrized as 6356&_mathId=si0008.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=15a530e86884ca70a6c8f2e585ce8403">View the MathML source6356-si0008.gif">, with the stochastic and constant terms 6356&_mathId=si0009.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=da405fd49539967c9c5451da835347a4">View the MathML source6356-si0009.gif"> and 6356&_mathId=si0010.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=6b612a9add11c2e3f2b02089ef196413">View the MathML source6356-si0010.gif">, respectively. This corresponds to the time resolution of 6356&_mathId=si0011.gif&_user=111111111&_pii=S0168900215016356&_rdoc=1&_issn=01689002&md5=2a97c2f0342c3580d79b8ba8a17d1b66">View the MathML source6356-si0011.gif"> at 100 MeV.
