Estimation of surface iron oxide abundance with suppression of grain size and topography effects

A method for estimating iron oxide abundance in surface rocks is proposed. This method can suppress the effects of grain size and topography simultaneously. The difference between reflectance at 550 nm and 760 nm is a function of grain size. Topography effects are suppressed by applying a continuum-removal method afterward. The results applied to an AVIRIS dataset accurately represented Fe2O3 abundance.
