Whole-tree harvest reduces the exchangeable Ca2+ pools in soils. Soil solution pH effects are short-term and dampened in discharge areas. Restricted mobile anion availability arrests the main WTH acidity in the soils. Small pH effects in surface waters over a rotation period of several decades. A mixture of experiments and models ought to be used for policy purposes.
