Association between organochlorine pesticide exposure and thyroid hormones in floriculture workers

Serum p,p’-DDE levels are associated with an increase of both T4 and T3 levels.

Serum p,p’-DDE levels are associated with a non significant decrease in TSH levels.

These associations are independent of exposure to organophosphate pesticides also considered thyroid disrupters.

These results support the hypothesis that p,p’-DDE acts as thyroid disruptor in humans.
