Aβ interacted peripherally with membranes and inserted into headgroup region. Differences in HAβ and RAβ membrane perturbations were based on lipid headgroup. Position of Arg-5 mediates difference between HAβ and RAβ membrane interactions. Cholesterol moderates degree of perturbation caused by peptide-membrane interactions.
