Method is presented to extract impedance functions of flexible soil-foundation interfaces. Method can also produce the external impedance of a truncated semi-infinite domain. Arbitrary interface geometry and/or any soil heterogeneity can be considered. Effects of omitting flexible modes of interaction in SSI analyses are explored. The accuracy of Winkler-type simplified impedance functions is investigated.
