Roots preferred P-enriched soil when no foliar P or Zn was applied. Foliar application of P or Zn eliminated root preference for P-enriched soil. With foliar Zn application roots also showed preference for Zn-enriched soil. Foliar fertilization affected root P but not root Zn allocation.
