An effective and safe in-feed alternative to antibiotics for preventing and treating bacterial fish infections is needed. S. parauberis bacteriophage Str-PAP-1 exhibited strong antibacterial activity against S. parauberis field isolates. Dietary supplementation with bacteriophage Str-PAP-1 for fish improved their growth performance and reduced fish mortality. The use of bacteriophage Str-PAP-1 for the prevention and treatment of S. parauberis infections is worth considering.
