CD98 light chains LAT-1 and LAT-2 can activate mTOR. CD98hc interacts with β1 and β3 integrins, mediating cell survival, proliferation and migration. The CD98 heterocomplex activates the PI3 K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways. LAT-1 inhibitors are being tested in pre-clinical studies. Various approaches to blocking CD98hc are being trialed.
