Altering the cytoplasmic domain (CD) of MT1-MMP affects its maturation and activity. MT1-MMP CD alterations affect cell viability but not cell motility. The CD of MT1-MMP enhances cell viability during serum-free 3D culture. The CD of MT1-MMP mediates tumour vascularization in vivo.
