Cognitive dysfunction in multiple sclerosis is present as early as at EDSS ≤ 2.0. Cognitive dysfunction in male patients is accompanied by decreased BDNF in plasma. The hyperactivity of the HPA axis is not developed at this early stage. Aldosterone response to mental stress test is reduced in female patients.
