EhLINE1 encoded ORF1p is an RNA binding protein. It also has a coiled coil domain for protein-protein interaction. RNA binding activity is located in the N-terminal region of ORF1p, while the protein-protein interaction ability is at the C-terminus. Although EhLINE1 belongs to R2 group of retrotransposons, it has two ORFs and its ORF1p is functionally related to non-R2 groups.
