One year of aging affected the degradation of carbofuran (CFN) in a biomixture. Degrading efficiency of CFN was significantly reduced after six months of aging. Biomixture aging caused modest changes on the composition of microbial communities. Changes in microbial community structure correlated with changes in pesticide-degrading ability. Aged biomixture was only partially able to remove other carbamates.
