Life-history calendar (LHC) methods are reliable for collecting retrospective data.
The study compared an on-line LHC with a conventional on-line questionnaire (CQ).
Similar quantities of events were collected with the on-line LHC and the on-line CQ.
The LHC produced more consistent answers in the test-retest than CQ.
Respondents reedited their answers with the on-line LHC to report more precise data.
