Periodontopathogens increases inflammatory caspases in macrophage-like cells. Host cell death induced by periodontopathogens results in release of host factors that can be endogenous danger signals. The released endogenous danger signals induced by periodontopathogens can be therapeutic targets to control periodontitis.
