A viscoelastic paraffin oil-in-water emulsion was constructed by using catanionic surfactant as emulsifier. The divalent salts are more easily to induce phase separation than monovalent ones. Viscoelasticity enhancement of the emulsion can be induced by salt, and influence of monovalent salts are more effective. The salt-containing emulsions show considerable resistance against temperature rising.
