Cyclin D2-derived peptide pep5 induces cell death in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. Cell death is more pronounced when pep5 is added on G1/S transition or S phase. Mass spectrometry identified several intracellular proteins interacting with pep5. Pep5 interactors are mainly involved with cytoskeleton and proteasome regulation. Pep5-promoted cell death seems to be dependent on ERK activation, PLEC and CLIC1.
