We develop a two-dimensional multilevel thresholding approach.

We compare the Rényi and Tsallis entropies after tuning automatically their parameters.

We use Quantum Genetic Algorithm to solve the complex optimization problem.

We show that the PSNR and SSIM criteria are not sufficiently consistent with human visual perception.
