Offshore volcanic rocks from the western Pontine Islands are investigated. Relatively undifferentiated basalt and andesites were found for the first time. Petrological modelling indicates the presence of distinct magmatic series. High-K calcalkaline, transitional and shoshonite series were identified. Plio-Pleistocene Pontine volcanics invariably record subduction-related signatures.
