There is very high prevalence of renal dysfunction among patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. The participants of the previous studies asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic disease with low disease severity indices. The aetiology of this is multifactorial which include high serum level calcium also. Successful parathyroidectomy reverts renal dysfunction in significant number and halts progression in most of the patients.
