We sequenced the complete chloroplast genome of alfalfa for the first time. Phylogenetic analysis based on 5 chloroplast genes provides a strong support for phylogenetic relationship. We also compared some complete chloroplast genome features of 8 legumes and revealed the mutual relation between them.
