ZnO and Eu0.01Zn0.99O nanoparticles were produced by the solution combustion method.
Additional Raman modes (AMs), related to Nitrogen doping, were observed.
Experiments show that the AM at 510 cm−1 cannot be attributed to Zni-Oi vibrations.
The AMs were ascribed to disorder activated Raman scattering favored by N-impurities.
Eu-doping can increase the solubility of Nitrogen in ZnO.
