A route for α′ decomposition in sub-β-transus heat treatment was proposed.

The degree of α′ decomposition determines the changes in the mechanical properties.

2 h at 800 °C decomposed the α′ phase into a refined α+β microstructure.

This microstructure increased the ductility, with a minor decrease in strength.
